Little else is known about his personal life. He is more active on Twitter than any other social media. He supposedly resides in New Zealand, though, has made numerous YouTube comments about having moved to Australia. He had also stated in a commentary video on Pyrocynical's channel that he attended the same university as the then-Prime Minister of New Zealand's son, completing his degree sometime around 2016-2017. He had stated in a podcast that he had studied Earth Science before switching to Computer Science. These videos were quick to make and he was posting them almost daily, compared to Dolan Dark where he would only upload once every few months. In 2016 he began uploading regularly on his second channel Dolan Darker. Shortly after the decline of MLG in 2015 he went to begin making general meme videos. He went on to gain popularity through MLG montage parodies like fellow YouTuber Pyrocynical.

Dolan created his channel in 2011, but he did not upload any videos until 2013, his first being an EDM remix of Shrek.
